Events in the process of LEAP development:

1) Official signing of the Agreements on Cooperation between REC BiH and Bratunac and Rudo municipalities (Tara, March 1, 2006)
According to the participation in the Project: "Cross-border LEAP`s: Environmental planning for peace and stability" Mr. Djordje Stefanovic, REC BiH Deputy Director, Mr. Nedeljko Mladjenovic, Mayor of Bratunac Municipality and Mr. Milko Colakovic, Mayor of Rudo Municipality signed the Agreement on Cooperation in respect to implementation of the LEAP.
The parties emphasized joint contribution to the application of principles of the sustainable development and Agenda 21, as well as mutual cooperation at preparation of the Local Environmental Action Plan, intending to contribute the betterment of living conditions of the citizens, in respect to environmental protection, nature conservation and development of communal infrastructure in each municipality.
The project is supported by the Netherlands Minister for Development Cooperation with total budget of 750,000.00 EUR and it will be implemented based on all human rights, democratic principles and transparency.

2) International Agriculture Fair "Raspberry Days" in Bratuac (June 30 - July 2, 2006)
Within the First International Agricultural Fair “Raspberry Days,” held from June 30th to July 2nd, 2006, in Bratunac, REC BiH representatives from Sarajevo, Banja Luka and Bratunac prepared a three-day presentation of LEAP for Bratunac Municipality .
The visitors have had an opportunity to meet the members of the working groups and volunteers who provided them with more detailed information about the creation of the LEAP document and its importance to the township and its population. This opportunity was used to distribute promotion material: T-shirts, caps, pencils, notebooks, folders, pamphlets and quastionnaires.
During the three days of the exhibit, volunteers engaged mainly from the Youth Organization “Odisej,” distributed approximately 500 questionnaires in addition to pamphlets containing information regarding the LEAP project and its importance. At the same time, a lengthy video presentation of the municipality of Bratunac was held.
The opening ceremony was attended by the representatives of REC BiH Mr. Djordje Vojinovic, Mr. Suad Hajric, Ms. Andrea Bevanda, as well as the LEAP coordinators from the municipalities of Rudo, Ljubovija and Bratunac - Ms. Jelena Micovic, Mr. Aleksandar Maksimovic and Mr. Nevenko Samoukovic.
The Fair was declared open by the ambassador of The Kingdom of The Netherlands in BiH, Mr. Karel Vaskuler, who also visited the post and had an extensive discussion about the LEAP project with the representatives of REC BiH and local LEAP coordinators.
The exhibiory post of LEAP was also visited by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of BiH, Mr. Mladen Ivanic, who commended the initiative for creation of the LEAP document for the Bratunac Municipality.
During the remainder of the promotion of the LEAP document, a call was made for photographs of the natural environment of the town. The photographs will be compiled by the local LEAP office and presented in a video format to the citizens. At the closure of this contest, on September 30th, 2006, the judging committee will award the best submission with a digital camera.

3) Celebrating of Rudo Municipality Day (June 12, 2006)
Traditional funfair on the Day of Rudo Municipality was organized on 12th July 2006. In the frame of funfair, LEAP for Rudo Municipality was also promoted. Within this opportunity, promotion material (T-shirts, caps, pencils, notebooks and folders) was distributed. Also, questionnaire was spread of.
For LEAP promotion, two volunteers were engaged, as well as Jelena Micovic, LEAP coordinator for Rudo Municipality was presented. Besides introducing citizens with LEAP, the goal was to fulfil as much as possible questionnaires. 203 questionnaires were fulfilled at the place.
Funfair was visited by LEAP coordinators from three project participating municipalities: Nevenko Samoukovic, LEAP coordinator from Bratunac Municipality, Ivan Pavlovic, LEAP coordinator from Priboj Municipality and Aleksandar Maksimovic, LEAP coordinator from Ljubovija Municipality. Also, stand was visited by all ages and educational structures of population.
LEAP promotion was very successful based on visiting and interest of citizens, as well as on the number of fulfilled questionnaires.
Another one activity which is carrying out by REC LEAP Office in Rudo Municipality is action "Let’s Choose the most beautiful Garden/Balcony in the city". Activity will last until August 1, 2006. After that date, commission of three members will visit city area and suburban areas. Three, the most arranged gardens/balconies, will be rewarded with valuable awards.

4) Arranging of the beach on the river Lim in Rudo
On July 9, 2006, the action of city beach arrangement in Rudo Municipality was accomplished in the frame of LEAP promotion. With purpose to attract the citizens to take massive involvement in action, the information on arranging the city beach was broadcasted 4 times per day on TV RUDO. The focus was on arranging of volleyball terrain. Executions of works that were included: marking of volleyball terrain, grass cutting and soil arranging were started on July 7, 2006 and were done by volunteers. After preparatory works, sand, posts with LEAP signs and volleyball net were placed.
A trash can with REC, donor and LEAP’s logo was placed on the beach.
After the arranging the beach, questionnaires and promotion material: T-shirts, caps, pencils, and notebooks were distributed. Also, kids who were very active were awarded with: swimming belts, the upper arm swimming belts and balls. The youngest activist who is just two years old and the oldest activist who is seventy were specially awarded. At the end, the volleyball game was played. The LEAP promotion was followed by media (local TV station).
The action and LEAP promotion was very successful, so that people of Rudo and especially youths got prettier and cleaner place for spending summer days.
