Activity
1. Establishment of organizational structure
Organizational structure includes:
· Coordination Committee (consisted of representatives of Canton);
· Citizens Board (consisted of representatives of 9 municipalities of
Canton Sarajevo, representatives of NGOs and media);
· Advisory Board (consisted of representatives of public and private enterprises);
· 10 Working groups consisted of experts in 10 thematic areas: 1) Air
quality management, 2) Integral management of water resources, 3) Protection,
use and management of soil, 4) Forest management, 5) Waste management,
6) Integral spatial management, 7) Economy and Environment, 8) Biodiversity,
protection of natural and cultural heritage, 9) Public health, social
issues and education and 10) Legal and institutional environmental protection
framework
· Cantonal coordinator nominated by Ministry of Physical Planning and
Environment of Canton Sarajevo
· Project coordinator (REC BiH).
Activity
2. Organizing promotional meeting
Promotional meeting will be organized with goal to present the project
of Cantonal Environmental Action Plan development to all stakeholders
in Canton Sarajevo.
Representatives of cantonal and local authorities, business sector, health,
educational and other institutions, NGOs and media will be participated
at the meeting.
Activity 3. Organizing workshop on process of Cantonal Environmental
Action Plan development
The first workshop will be organized with goal to present dynamic and
organizational plan (methodology) for Cantonal Environmental Action Plan
development as the base for future strategic work in environmental protection
in Canton Sarajevo.
Representatives of working groups, Advisory Citizen Board will attend
the meeting.
Activity 4. Conducting public surveys
In order to assess the public opinion about environmental problems in
the area of Canton Sarajevo, a public survey will be conducted.
Questionnaire will be send to cantonal ministries, municipalities in the
Canton, public and private enterprises, Chamber of Commerce of Canton
Sarajevo, hospitals and primary health care units, University of Sarajevo,
secondary and primary schools, nongovernmental organizations in Canton
and to citizens.
Activity 5. Development of the list of environmental problems
and organizing 2. workshop
Based on the collected data, information, reports, studies and results
from the survey, working groups will define a list of environmental problems.
Second workshop will be organized with goal to present and discuss the
list of environmental problems by all participants.
Activity 6. Ranking the environmental problems, setting the list
of environmental priorities and organizing 3. workshop
The problems will be ranked based on their risks on human health, ecosystem
and overall quality of people's life and other defined criteria.
The list of environmental priorities will be presented and discussed by
all participants at the 3. workshop.
Activity 7. Organizing round tables
Round tables for representatives of business sector, NGOs, scientific
and other institutions will be organized in each municipality of Canton.
The purpose of the round tables will be to present and discuss the list
of environmental priorities.
Activity 8. Development of action plan and organizing of 4. workshop
Working groups will define the activities for solving the environmental
priorities that are the major phase in process of Cantonal Environmental
Action Plan development. The action plan includes the activities that
should be taken in order to improve the current state of environment.
The action plan will be presented and discussed by all participants at
the workshop.
Activity 9. Preparation of draft document
Project coordinator will prepare the draft document based on materials
resulted from previous activities.
Draft document will be widely presented to public. Comments form different
organisation and citizens will be taken into consideration and the final
version of document will be prepared.
Ministry of Physical Planning and Environment of Canton Sarajevo will
submit the document to Government and Assembly of Canton Sarajevo to adoption
of the document.
