Development
of Cantonal Environmental Action Plan for Canton Sarajevo |
Goals of the project
The
project is aiming in giving support in development of Environmental Action
Plan with the purpose to improve the state of environment in the area
of Canton Sarajevo in the period 2005 - 2010.
Long-term goals of the project:
- To define the most important natural resources in sense of long term
economic development in Canton Sarajevo
- Capacity building of cantonal authorities for environmental issues management
- To include environmental policy protection in policies of all other
sectors
- To increase public awareness and responsibility in environmental protection
- To increase public participation in solving of environmental problems
- To increase public awareness about values of environment and natural
resources
- To establish the base for linking to similar programmes of bigger or
smaller administrative political communities, especially to NEAP
- To create organizational precondition for efficient work on improvement
and environmental protection, as important segment of sustainable development
of certain area
- To improve transparency and quality of environmental decision-making.
Short term goals of the project:
- To initiate the process of preparation of Cantonal Environmental
Action Plan
- To mobilize stakeholders to take an active part in development of Cantonal
EAP
- To build partnership between cantonal and other stakeholders in process
of Cantonal EAP
- To recognize real possibilities for realization of some activities defined
within Cantonal EAP
- To induce partners to take a part of responsibility and care for their
own environment
- To identify environmental problems in Canton Sarajevo
- To rank environmental problems based on their risks to human health,
ecosystems and overall quality of life and to define environmental priorities.
